Coral Reef Restaurant in The Seas

August 2009   Submitted by Dana

My family and I ate at the Coral Reef on Tuesday, August 25, 2009. The chef discussed the menu with me and I chose the Mahi Mahi. It was very good. I was given a special basket of rolls, which were hot out of the oven. They were delicious. For dessert I had the chocolate wave which was a flourless chocolate cake. It was amazing! All in all it was a very good restaurant.

The Garden Grill in the Land

We had a 6:40 ADR at the Garden Grill on Halloween evening.  We requested an outside table and waited about 15 minutes before being seated.  It was nice that there was a Kidcot station right by the restaurant that kept out children (almost 3 and six) occupied during part of our wait time.   The outside table was worth the wait and the kids LOVED the rotation of the restaurant.  They frequently got up to look over the railing to the Land Ride below.

Our family has food intolerances (all of us are gluten free) and we always need to see the chef before ordering.   The chef came right out and assured us that a gluten free dinner would be no problem.  We had two servings of salad with oil and vinegar.   The chef brought us a basket of assorted warm gluten free breads.   For the main course, we had beef and turkey with no sauce, mashed potatoes and two servings of vegetables.  The kids had gf chicken fingers.  I was sad that we could not have the catfish or stuffing because they just looked so good.  For dessert, the chef made up a special dessert platter of gf brownies, pudding, jello and applesauce.

This was hands-down our favorite character meal.  All week our almost 3 year old had been very shy of any characters,  but at this dinner he really warmed up to them.  He was especially fond of the Chip and Dale.  It was especially nice that each character visited our table three times and they were not rushed.   They were very patient as our almost 3 year old hugged and kissed them.

Princess Dining in Norway

We had an 11:30 ADR on Tuesday 10/28/08 for lunch with the Princesses.  We didn’t wait long before being called into line to get our picture taken with Belle.  We were pleasantly surprised that the photo package is included in the cost of the meal.  Our family has food intolerances (all of us are gluten free) and we always need to see the chef before ordering.  Unlike many of the restaurant we have visited, the lunch menu at was very limited for gluten free dining.  The chef we spoke with just told us which meal on the menu was gluten free, but did not (or could not?) offer to alter any entrees for us.  My husband and I both had the chicken and the kids had hotdogs with no buns.  We were able to eat many of the items on the buffet bar.  Dessert was a big hit; we had the flourless chocolate cake and the rice pudding.  Since we couldn’t eat the traditional pastry, the chef sent out two portions of cake on our plate.  The princesses were lovely.  Of course they started arriving just as we got our meal, so it was a little difficult to get up to take pictures every few minutes.  Despite the limited menu, we both enjoyed our meal.  I wasn’t planning on ordering a chicken dish for lunch, but it turned out to be delicious.  Overall it was a pleasant experience and a good meal.

Le Cellier

I knew I would really miss my cheese soup & breadsticks, but my body would thank me. I split the New York Strip steak with mashed potatoes with my DD. (the steak has been kinda fatty the last few times we've gotten it, and this time was pretty fatty. Oh well, it tasted great) The chef was funny. He said I could have the risotto, and I questioned it (I was thinking small pasta not rice). He really wanted to make sure I knew that it didn't have any gluten in it. Tapioca rolls again. Good service.

San Angel Inn

No chef came out. The waiter said I should just avoid anything with flour tortillas. I asked about the sauces, and he said no, they shouldn't have any gluten. DH & I split the Sopa Azteca, which was very good, and the Tostados de Tinga, which was very nice also. It was enough to satisfy both of us. I enjoyed this meal very much.
